The Anacaona Museum is dedicated to showing the culture of the Tainos, pre-Hispanic settlers of the island and a tribute to the queen of the Cacicazgo Maguna, one of the five territories into which Hispaniola was organized in 1492 when Christopher Columbus visited it for the first time. Its ample exhibition of Taino pieces that are not found in any other museum on the island.
