Year-round Events in La Romana to Help With Vacation Planning

La Romana is the perfect setting for weddings, corporate events, sports tournaments, family reunions, or wellness retreats. All-inclusive resorts such as Iberostar, Casa de Campo, and Hilton La Romana offer special services to help guests plan for big events.

Throughout the year, we host our own local and international events! The annual Procigar Festival brings together the industry’s biggest cigar makers for a weekend of education, entertainment, and, of course, cigar smoking. The Casa de Campo Spring Shootout is a 54-hole golf tournament held annually in April. There’s more where that came from!

Plan your holiday around one of these annual events in La Romana. The dates of some of these events vary, so if you’re interested in attending, you can find more information directly on their websites.

Procigar Festival

This annual event is organized by the Tobacco Producers’ Association of the Dominican Republic. Expect four full days of activities at Casa de Campo, tours to the García Tobacco factory, a golf tournament, beach excursions, educational opportunities, entertainment, leisure activities, and, of course, premium cigar smoking.

Caribbean Classic Golf Tournament

In its 26th year, the Caribbean Golf Classic is held at Casa de Campo. It’s set up as a team event where each participating member plays eighteen holes each day. The lowest individual score per round completed in each flight will count towards the team total. If you’re into golf, sign up or watch this tournament at a world premiere golf resort!

McDaniel Tennis Tournament

Dubbed the Wimbledon of the Caribbean, the Tennis Center at Casa de Campo is the perfect place for players of all levels. The Annual McDaniel Tennis Tournament raises funds for health insurance and scholarships for all the tennis ball boys and working players in Casa de Campo’s La Terraza Tennis Center and La Romana Country Club. The event includes practice activities, doubles and singles tournaments, a prize-giving ceremony, and a reception.

 Marina Casa De Campo Open

The Marina Casa De Campo Open is a catch and release fishing tournament. Anglers compete to catch blue marlin, white marlin, and sailfish in the waters off the coast of La Romana. The tournament is strategically held during blue marlin fishing season, which runs from February to May. The teams follow blue marlins on the FADs placed out at sea, which tend to concentrate bites in specific areas. It’s an exciting competition as competing fishermen are bound to catch multiple big game fish!

Patron Saint of Bayahibe Festival

As a predominantly Catholic country, the Dominican Republic celebrates the Patron Saint of Bayahibe for a week during spring; the lively event includes a range of artistic, cultural, and sports activities. The festival is organized by locals and each year a queen of the festival is selected to represent the community and assist in all the events. There are plenty of family-friendly activities each day of the festival. It’s an awesome opportunity to take part in Dominican culture!

More Events

The regular season for Dominican baseball runs from October to December. Some games are played at the Francisco Micheli Stadium in La Romana — an excellent opportunity to watch the country’s most talented baseball players! Polo matches are played year-round at Casa de Campo, with the Polo Challenge held every year from January to April.

Musicians from all over the world travel to our little beach town to play in Altos de Chavón; the massive amphitheater has hosted the likes of Andrea Bocelli, Elton John, Gloria Estefan, and many more! Whether planning or attending an event in La Romana, we’re excited to welcome your group to our tropical paradise.
